Once upon a time at Keeaumoku St...

July 8, 2010

I meet my friends, Rozie and her daughter, Shafiqah and Isabella with her children, Nayrose and Melvin, for the last time before leaving Honolulu.  We had a great time together and I wish we could have hanged out more often before. Thanks for letting me put up your pictures here. I'm surely gonna miss you guys.

This is Isabella and her son, Melvin.

With her daughter, Nayrose

The Favorite Store

July 7, 2010

The boys were cooped up in the hotel room for a pretty long time so we took them to their favorite store to make it up for them. The store is at Ala Moana Mall, just right next to the hotel.

The Lego Store!

We had our breakfast at Akane Cafe. Daniel likes the place so we decided to go there for the last time. I've been there once with my father and Daniel the second day we arrived on the island. There's nothing fancy about the menu but the price is pretty cheap.

Classic look of the menu board

My choice - toast, hash brown and sunny side up egg

The simple interior

So, if any of you guys were to visit the island one day, do drop by at this place and give it a try :-)

Still not settled...

Hello guys. Assalamualaikum. We're in Silverdale, Washington now but we are not settled in yet. I have millions of pictures to post in here and I think I'll have to put up the backdated ones first so the stories are in chronological order. We've been out most of the time and I just got the internet connection at the hotel that we're currently staying (it's not free argh!) I am loving the weather, it can get pretty chilly out here but so far no rain yet!

After we've moved out from the apartment, we stayed at Ala Moana Hotel for 6 days starting on the 4th of July hoping that we could catch a huge firework in front of the park but unfortunately we missed it. Daniel had a gig that day until late evening and I took the kids to my friend's house for a BBQ party and there was a  really bad traffic jam on the way back to the hotel. We had to change room due to a clogged toilet at 11.30pm and I think we were only able to sleep after a super long day at 1am. On the next few days, we went back and forth to the Navy admin office to settle some paper work, had to deal with all these unexpected nitty gritty details of moving out from the apartment which involved a lot of money for us and we ended up being so tired that we didn't really go anywhere while staying at the hotel :-(. Plus Daniel still had to work as usual, and the only day we actually went out was the day before we flew to Seattle. Oh well...

View of Magic Island at Ala Moana Park from our hotel room at different times - at dawn, just before sunrise and after sunrise.

View from the balcony in the morning.

Another view from the balcony.

Boiled peanuts for breakfast anyone? Our neighbor, Doreen gave these to us before we left the apartment for good. She's a nice lady from Malaysia, been in Hawaii for more than 25 years. Too bad I only got to know her for a short time.

Then it's fun time at the pool.

Moving Day, Bubbles & Boredom

We've moved out from our apartment and currently homeless :-). I'm feeling as if I have not been sleeping for days with what's going on around us at the moment. Currently, I'm writing this from our hotel room, which we just got into last night at almost 11.30pm. I'll tell you about it in the next post. As for now, enjoy some pictures I took on the moving day.

The movers did a pretty good job. Friendly people. It took several hours to complete the whole thing. What's not fun was to wait for the whole thing to finish and to keep an eye on the kids at the same time and make sure they're not in the way.

We decided to play water bubbles.

It's not easy for the boys to stay outside at the parking lot playing quietly. But they did a pretty god job considering it took several hours.

More bubbles

Happy face.

And all sorts of faces.

 2 brothers playing together.

And their many antics.

Almost done

I got to talk to this nice old lady  for awhile at our balcony while waiting for the movers to finish packing. I hardly talked to anybody there just because ...ehem..I'm shy. But if anybody were to come and talk to me, I would definitely talk to them :-). So this lady, who is a Filipina, first came to this island 14 years ago with her 4 daughters and now that the daughters are all married and have their own lives, she said it's time for her to go home and spend the rest of her life there.

View of the boys from the balcony.

What's left

Time for some popsicles aka aiskrim Malaysia

And turning over a new leaf with our move.
