Ice cream, Sun & Spring break

These are the pictures from last week when the boys had their Spring break. We had some beautiful weather for a few days, sunny skies with temperatures in the low 60s. I think it might be our best Spring so far since we moved here. Farhan was not in the pictures because he decided to stay home with Daniel.

Sarah had a taste of ice cream. Actually it was mine, but I accidentally dropped a whole big scoop of strawberry ice cream, except for its cone, on the floor. There was a little bit left inside the cone and I let her tasted it and she won't let it go.

The park we went to, Muriel Iverson Williams Waterfront Park, Poulsbo. It's a small park, but I love the view.

The boys love to climb this rock every time we come here.

View of the water front

Still holding the ice cream cone. At least she let me ate it bit by bit until it was gone.

This picture pretty much summarizes how Sarah is nowadays. She hardly sits still.

Sarah loves to slide on this rock. And Emir loves to play with her.

Thanks Auntie Aida for the shoes!

Cherry blossoms are blooming!

I think Sarah loves it.

These boys are getting so big. Emir is going to be in sixth grade soon!

Happy New Year 2013!

Happy New Year everyone! Wishing that this year will be so much better for you in so many ways especially in health and happiness. Hopefully you'll strive to meet your resolutions, if you have any. I hope we'll get to see more happy faces around the world. That people will still care for each other, regardless of their differences. That greediness does not push us into the wrong direction not only in our lives, but also in other people's lives. That we are still able to feel safe wherever we are. And empathy and compassion will still play major roles in our lives.

"If you can learn a simple trick, Scout, you'll get along a lot better with all kinds of folks. You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view, until you climb inside of his skin and walk around in it." Atticus Finch in To Kill a Mockingbird (1962)

And here are some pictures from last week :-)

We got so many presents from Daniel's side of the family. The kids especially had so much fun opening their gifts. Thank you so much! We would have gone to Oregon to spend some time with Aunt Dottie and her family on Christmas day, if it hadn't been for a gig that Daniel had to play on Christmas Eve. Bummer! So it was just us, spending some quiet quality time together.

I love what the boys made for us.

Ezzat's drawing of a nutcracker. Definitely a keeper for me.

And then it started to snow!!! It didn't really stick at first. More of a mix between rain and snow.

But it got heavier.

And I'm loving it!

"Do I really have to take a nap?"

"What if I do this, aaaaaaaa?"

Our lunch. Unfortunately I didn't feel like cooking for a feast. So just a quick teriyaki chicken on sticks with carrot rice and whatever that you can see in the picture above. We just hanged out after lunch, watched a couple of movies and basically just being couch potatoes all day. It was great.

Blueberry Hollow - Thanksgiving 2012

We were very lucky to have another opportunity to spend our Thanksgiving holiday this year at Blueberry Hollow with Daniels' aunt's family, the Wickhams. We had such a great time, and I hated to see it ended. This year, instead of driving to Portland one day earlier, we decided to go the next day, on Thanksgiving Day itself. Luckily the traffic wasn't that bad and we made it just in time for the feast.

Sarah finally has hair!

Finger licking good Aunt Barbara!

My plate! Thank you so much Aunt Barbara for making the yummy halal goat curry and baked salmon for us. It was very thoughtful of you and we really appreciated it.

I met Mrs Ruth, Uncle Eric's mom for the first time. She's a very sweet lady. Bride to be, Robin in green polka dot green cardigan. Her wedding to Sam, Daniel's cousin, was only one day away when this picture was taken.
